A one-track mind, although focused, may limit the ability to see other paths that may very well get you to your destination more quickly and efficiently.
Don't restrict your chances of progressing. Life throws us curves balls from time to time and being limber enough to flow with them keeps us open to other unsuspecting possibilities.
You never know what unpredictable wonder awaits...;)
